THE ROAD REPORT: More closures announced for Champaign-Urbana; plan accordingly

CHAMPAIGN-URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – The Road Report is a helpful resource to keep your travels smooth and trouble-free. All projects are weather permitting.

Intersection Closure at Fifth Street and Healey Street (and Road Closures on Fifth Street and Healey Street)

In order to complete a water main installation at 505 S. Fifth Street, Wells and Wells Construction and Duce Construction will close the intersection of Fifth Street and Healey Street. As a result, the following will be closed:
• Fifth Street closed to through traffic between Green Street and Springfield Avenue. Access will be maintained to all local properties.
• Healey Street closed to through traffic between Fourth Street and Sixth Street. Access will be maintained to all local properties. Temporary two-way traffic will be implemented on Healey Street to facilitate the closure.
The closures will begin on Monday, December 22, and will reopen by Friday, January 16, 2026, weather permitting.

Freedom Boulevard Lane Closure (between Yankee Lane and Entrance to Carle on Curtis)

In order to accommodate a moving truck at 3614 Freedom Boulevard, the property owner will close the northbound lane of Freedom Boulevard between Yankee Lane and the entrance to Carle on Curtis (just south of Curtis Road).
The closure will take place on Friday, December 19, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. During the closure, the northbound lane will be closed to through traffic. Southbound traffic will not be interrupted. Access will be maintained to local properties.

Fifth Street Road Closure (between Springfield Avenue and Healey Street)

In order to complete a concrete pour at 502 S. Fifth Street, University Group will close Fifth Street between Springfield Avenue and Healey Street.  The closure will occur on Thursday, December 18, 2025, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Lane Closures near 309 S. First Street

In order to facilitate construction activity at 309 S. First Street, University Group has closed the following lanes:
• Northbound lane of Locust Street from Willow Street to Marshall Street
• Eastbound lane of Willow Street from Locust Street to First Street
• Westbound lane of Marshall Street from Locust Street to First Street
The closures began today, December 15, and will reopen on Friday, February 13, 2026, weather permitting. During the closure, access will remain available to all local properties.
