CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, IL (Chambana Today) – A deadly motorcycle crash on Illinois Route 130 Tuesday evening resulted in the death of Andrew L. Ward of Allerton, according to local law enforcement. The crash occurred after Ward fled a traffic stop initiated by Villa Grove police.

Villa Grove Police Chief Cole Tibbetts said officers attempted to pull over Ward after observing a traffic violation. Instead of stopping, Ward fled northbound on Route 130, eventually colliding with a pickup truck about two miles north of Philo.

Ward died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash, confirmed by an autopsy performed Wednesday. Two occupants of the pickup truck were injured, though the extent of their injuries has not been disclose.

The Illinois State Police have assumed responsibility for the ongoing investigation.
