CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) —The Illinois football team struggled on both sides of the ball Saturday night, falling 42–25 to Washington after surrendering nearly 449 yards of total offense and losing the turnover battle on the road. The loss drops the Illini to 5–3 on the season.

The Huskies’ offense was relentless, converting 9 of 12 third downs and completing 27 of 34 passes for 292 yards. Washington quarterback Demond Williams Jr. led the attack with four touchdown passes, while wide receiver Denzel Boston added another.

Illinois quarterback Luke Altmyer went 22-for-34 through the air for 199 yards and two touchdowns but threw two interceptions—his first multi-interception performance of the year. Wide receiver Hank Beatty paced the Illini with six catches for 73 yards, and tight end Cole Rusk contributed four receptions for 56 yards.

The Illini will look to rebound next week when they return home to face Rutgers at Gies Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. and will be broadcast on NBC.
