DANVILLE, Ill. (Chambana Today) — A Danville woman has been arrested following a road rage incident near the Danville Area Community College (DACC) campus Thursday morning that allegedly involved a firearm.

According to the Danville Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 8:42 a.m. on August 21, to DACC, located at 2000 E. Main Street, after receiving a report that a suspect had displayed a firearm during a road rage confrontation.

Investigators determined the incident began near the intersection of East Main Street and Indiana Street. The confrontation escalated as the vehicles continued to the area of Baumgart Street and Home Street, where the suspect reportedly made threatening statements toward the victims while brandishing a firearm.

The suspect, identified as Shoshanna M. Boens, of Danville, was later located. Her vehicle was towed to the Danville Public Safety Building, where a search warrant was executed. Police say a firearm was recovered during the search.

Boens was taken into custody and faces preliminary charges of Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

Police emphasized that the incident, while occurring in proximity to the college, was isolated and did not pose a threat to the DACC campus.

“The safety of the DACC campus was never in question,” the department stated in a release.

As of now, no further information has been released. Authorities remind the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
