Crash closed I-74 in Champaign County for hours early Wednesday

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (Chambana Today) — A crash involving a semi-truck and two other vehicles shut down westbound lanes of Interstate 74 in Champaign County for several hours early Wednesday morning.

According to Illinois State Police, the crash happened around 4:15 a.m. near milepost 176, just west of the I-57 interchange. Both westbound lanes were blocked as emergency crews responded and cleared the scene.

Traffic resumed shortly after 8:20 a.m., roughly four hours after the initial closure. Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported in the collision.

State Police have not released details on what caused the crash or whether any citations were issued. The incident remains under investigation.
