CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — In the late hours of Friday leading into early Saturday, the Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire in a vacant multi-family apartment building.

Firefighters arrived at the building, located in the 1200 block of Parkland Court, at 12:28 a.m. on December 13.

Fire crews worked to extinguish the growing fire after a report of a fire in the two-story apartment building. Once on the scene, crews found a fully-involved first floor apartment, with fire beginning to spread to adjacent units. A second alarm was called, bringing in additional fire units to the scene. Firefighters worked to extinguish this fire using multiple hose lines.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, as investigators remain on scene conducting their investigation. No firefighter injuries were reported.
