Champaign County Sheriff releases results of Thanksgiving holiday increased enforcement

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (Chambana Today) — This week, Champaign County Sheriff Dustin Heuerman released the results of the increased enforcement details that took place around the Thanksgiving holiday.

The details were comprised of a total of ten hours of special traffic enforcement aimed at keeping Champaing County roadways safer during the holiday season. The results of these details include:

  • 7 citations for speeding
  • 2 citations for failure to wear a seatbelt
  • 2 citations for driving with suspended vehicle registration
  • 1 citation for operating an uninsured motor vehicle

This increased traffic enforcement was supported by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation and aligns with Illinois’ statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”, “Click it or Ticket”, and “It’s Not a Game” campaigns.
