CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Following a fourth regular season under head coach Shauna Green, three members of the Illinois Fighting Illini women’s basketball team earned All-Big Ten accolades from the conference’s coaches and media.

Sophomore Berry Wallace earned a unanimous first team All-Big Ten nod from league coaches, while Cearah Parchment was named an honorable All-Conference member. Parchment and fellow freshman Destiny Jackson both earned spots on the conference’s All-Freshman team, while grad student Gisela Segura was recognized as the team’s Sportsmanship Award honoree.

This marks the first Big Ten postseason accolade of Wallace’s career, and the 19th student-athlete in Illinois program history to earn All-Big Ten First Team status.

Parchment earned All-Big Ten honorable mention and All-Freshman team honors by both coaches and media. The Whitby, Ontario, Canada native collected four Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors this past season, and leads the conference with 12 double-doubles.

Freshman point guard Destiny Jackson also landed All-Freshman team honors, unanimously by the coaches and by media voters. The Chicago native had 12 double-digit scoring performances, two double-figure rebounding games, and a freshman season record of 151 assists. Jackson sits sixth on Illinois’ all-time single season assists list, just 23 away from being the leader.

Parchment and Jackson’s All-Freshman honors mark the second time in program history that two freshmen have earned the honor in the same season, with the first coming in 1997 with Tauja Catchings and Katie Coleman.

Graduate student Gisela Segura took home the team’s Sportsmanship Award honor. In her first year in Champaign and sixth of college basketball, the Cervera, Spain native has taken the Illini squad under her wing, guiding teammates.
