CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Arthouse 217 and Film-Fanatic.Club are teaming up for a special late-night screening of The French Dispatch on June 4 at The Literary in downtown Champaign.

The 2021 film from Wes Anderson serves as a tribute to journalism, storytelling and artistic creativity, featuring a star-studded cast that includes Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Benicio del Toro, Frances McDormand and Timothée Chalamet.

Organizers say the event is designed to be more than a traditional movie screening. The evening will include a curated introduction, a surprise short film and a post-screening discussion in a relaxed bar setting.

The screening is part of the group’s “Film Fanatic Movie Nights” series, which highlights independent, international and arthouse films in alternative venues across Champaign-Urbana.

Club co-founder Paul Young said the June 4 event marks the organization’s first screening at The Literary and its first late-night “midnight movie” style showing.

The Literary Events Manager Dylan Renner said the venue plans to offer a late-night menu and themed cocktail during the event.

Doors open at 10 p.m. with the film beginning at 10:30 p.m. at The Literary, located at 122 N. Neil St. in Champaign.
