RANTOUL, Ill. (Chambana Today) — A 13-year-old boy was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a Champaign Police car in Rantoul, according to the Rantoul Police Department.

First responders—including the Rantoul Police, Fire Department, and Arrow Ambulance—arrived at the scene near East Champaign Avenue and South Garrard Street at approximately 3:30 p.m. (WAND-TV)

Preliminary information indicates the boy ran into the roadway from the Credit Union One parking lot, crossing both eastbound lanes and colliding with the westbound Champaign Police vehicle. He was immediately transported to a local hospital and is being treated for serious injuries, though his condition has not been disclosed. The incident is still under active investigation.
